We recommend that your new pet is wormed for all worms every month until 12 weeks old, then monthly until 6 months old.
Worming is recommended every 3-6 months for life as every pet will get worms at some point during their life which can cause various health problems.
We recommend MILBEMAX tablets for this. MILBEMAX is available as a palatable tablet and is effective against roundworm, lungworm, tapeworm and numerous other species of worm.
Puppies – starting at 4 to 8 weeks of age, deworming should be done monthly, until 12 months old.
Thereafter, deworming every 3 months should be done as for an adult dog.
Adult dogs – deworming at 3 month intervals; we recommend MILBEMAX.
This should be done more frequently if the dog lives in a household with children due to risks associated with round worm.
Pregnant bitches – daily dosing from day 40 of pregnancy to 2 days post-whelping with PANACUR liquid or powder.
PLEASE NOTE THAT OVER THE COUNTER DEWORMERS ARE NOT VERY EFFECTIVE BECAUSE THE ACTIVE INGREDIENTS IN THEM ARE OLDER DRUGS.

Kittens – done at 8 or 9 weeks of age, and then 1 month later, which usually coincides with the vaccination schedule. We can use STRONGHOLD spot-on treatment to treat for roundworms, we apply it after your kitten is examined and vaccinated, or MILBEMAX tablets when appropriate
Adult cats – deworming should be done every 3-6 months, depending on the cat’s exposure to worms. Those with a higher exposure, meaning cats which hunt and catch mice etc. frequently, or cats which have fleas, should be dewormed at least every 3 months. Cats acquire worms from eating rodents and rabbits, and from fleas. Cats living in households with children should also be dewormed every 3 months. We recommend MILBEMAX.
